“Igor Fjodorovitsj Stravinsky (Russisch: И́горь Фёдорович Страви́нский) (Oranienbaum, 17 juni 1882 – New York, 6 april 1971) was een van de invloedrijkste componisten van de 20e eeuw, en een centraal figuur uit de modernistische muziek. Naast componist was Stravinsky ook dirigent, vaak van zijn eigen werken. De van geboorte Russische componist verwierf in 1934 de Franse nationaliteit en werd, nadat hij zich eind jaren dertig van de 20e eeuw in de Verenigde Staten had gevestigd, in 1945 tot Amerikaan genaturaliseerd.”
