How can the daily experience of our shaken world be grasped through music? This question guides Natasha Barrett and Stefan Prins in contrasting ways: Barrett deconstructs the spurious stability of a collapsing system. Prins transforms the "madness" of today’s uncontrollable chaos into an artistic principle as he conceives of the orchestra and electronics as one vast techno-organic machine. In a different way, Igor C Silva also explores the themes of control and loss of control by experimenting with interaction and improvisation between conductor, orchestra and soloists. Finally, Hannah Kendall hears the words from 1949 of Martinican poet Édouard Glissant as even more fitting to the present.
