In the 16th century, the vast, echoing space of St Mark's Basilica forced composers like Gabrieli into radical experimentation. Five centuries later, this inspired Jockel’s paths in the sky, in which he deconstructs the orchestra, letting music emerge from every corner of the hall. Slowly, the musicians filter back toward the stage to unite for Miloslav Kabeláč’s The Mystery of Time: a profound symphonic translation of his fascination with space and the unyielding order that governs the cosmos.
