As modern troubadours, Michaela and Eva take the listener on an unfamiliar journey. Alongside compelling contemporary music by Anna Thorsvaldsdottir, Ed Bennet, Anthony Fiumara, and Kate Moore, among others, the program also features the remarkable repertoire of the trobairitz: 12th- and 13th-century female troubadours. From a female perspective, they composed, wrote lyrics, and performed their own work. Eva Tebbe and Michaela Riener explore the various ways they can approach this scarcely surviving material: searching for the most authentic performance, adapting the text to the present moment, improvising, and creating new arrangements.
